Sewing lesson #3: threading the sewing machine

How fast can you thread a sewing machine? Watch the video to learn how to thread a machine. If your machine is different, you may also need to use the instruction book or find another video that shows how to thread the machine you use. Practice and then try the threading challenge!

Sewing lesson #4: sewing with fabric and thread

Practice sewing with thread on fabric. Pause the video to practice on your own machine. For this lesson, you will need:

  • fabric scraps (a woven cotton is recommended)
  • ruler and/or seam gauge
  • fabric marking pen (or any pen that shows on your fabric)
  • fabric shears
  • pins
  • iron and ironing board

Sewing lesson #5: sew an easy pillow

Sew an easy pillow and then make a cover for it! Practice straight lines, turning corners, backstitching, and clipping. Some "pro" tips are included too! Pause the video to complete the steps in the project.
