how to thread a serger (janome pro 4dx)

Learn how to thread your serger. Mine is a Janome Pro 4DX, and will likely be similar to other Janome models. However, there may be applications and hints that apply to other brands as well.

securing overlock (or serger) threads

Serged fabric with thread chain.

How do you lock your threads on a machine with no reverse button? 5 ways to do this are demonstrated in this tutorial - 2 on the machine, 3 off the machine. They include serging over your chain, turning the fabric and serging "backward", weaving the threads, tying a knot, and using seam sealant (a fancy name for fabric glue).
